Newlyn debt collector - limited company

A debt collector from Newlyn plc arrived at my door today requesting payment for unpaid Council tax. The debt it related to unpaid council tax for a small period related to a property that I let via a limited company. I changed my limited company registered address over a year ago and apparently correspondence have been going to the old address. My question is is there anything I can do about this or am I just best paying the debt. Thanks in advance.

Do you owe the money? Then I suggest you pay it. If you don't owe the money (someone else was in the property for that time period) then you need to refer the matter back to the council and tell them why they need to chase someone else and give as much detail as you can as to the who and where they might be now.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
