Do all banks/credit card issuers allow you to have more than one credit cards?

Do all banks/credit card issuers allow you to have more than one credit cards?
If not, which ones will do?

I am asking this because many years ago I applied for a second credit card with Tesco as they had a good balance transfer offer back then. At the time, I already had a Tesco credit card with a good credit limit and no balance left to pay. The new card was approved but with a rather low credit limit (£500 or less, I can't recall).
I then gave then a call and they simply transferred most of the limit from the old card to the new one, which was great as I could use it to do a balance transfer from a Lloyds card!

Those credit cards account are long closed but I am back at the same situation...

I have another Tesco credit card at the moment (with a good limit and no balance left) and was wondering if they do still allow more than one card per person so I could apply for a second card to do a balance transfer from a Natwest card I have.  This current Tesco card I have isn't offering a good deal for a BT.

Apologies if this is already answered in this forum somewhere - I've tried to find here and googling it but had no luck.

I would be great if there was a list somewhere or where exactly to look at each individual bank/issuer.

Many thanks!

Each bank has its own rules on how many cards they will allow people to hold at the same time. Tesco do allow a second card.

Can't see there being a comprehensive list as:

    a. I don’t think number of cards allowed is high on many people’s considerations when comparing cards and providers. Whilst I will look at existing providers to see if they have a good offer ultimately I apply for the best cashback/0% deal/overseas use card I think I can get regardless of who the provider is.

    b. the answer can be complicated e.g. allowed multiple cards but not the same card or more than one from a type,

    c. the answer will depend on circumstances and change over time e.g.  Bank A may want you to have two of their cards but me only one, or I might be allowed two cards with Bank B because I have held them for years but a new customer is only allowed one.

That's good to know! Thanks for replying. I assume RBS will also allow, given that they're part of same banking group.

I believe Virgin Money also allows multiple cards. It's not explicitly said in their website but their mobile app has the option to add addition VM cards

Yes Virgin do allow two (or potentially more?) cards. I had a zero percent spending credit card and their Travel credit card from Virgin.
I binned the zero percent card only last week as the 0% had expired but have retained the travel card for overseas usage.

I believe you can have more than one type of Amex card. For example, you could get the cashback card and a card which collects Avios points.

I have two RBS 0% purchase credit cards. One opened in 2022, second in 2023, while I was still paying minimum repayments on the first.

Both 23 months duration. Surprised me tbh.

Funds to settle both are in fixed term savings accounts.
