Personal injury under a Scottish trust deed

I am 2 years into my trust deed and in the process of claiming for personal injury from a car accident from another driver at fault. Does anyone know if I get to keep the payment once finalised if I’m still in the trust deed? I’ve asked my trustee and I’ve been given 2 different answers and they take weeks to respond each time I try to clarify. Initially I was told I could keep it above borrowed money from a family member to replace the car on the basis that I could easily pay him back once the pay out is done but now I’m stressing as one person says I keep it and another says they “may” have interest in the funds. Has anyone been in a similar situation and can advise on their experience?
