Hi all. I’ve sold an item for £20 on eBay and the buyer messaged me shortly after saying they’ve moved house so the eBay address is wrong and have given me a new address. They’ve been an eBay member since 2008 but no feedback in the last 12 months.
Normally I’d cancel the order and relist and ask them to update their address on eBay before re-buying the item but I sold it when I had an 80% offer so a bit reluctant to do that.
What are peoples thoughts?

For £20 I would risk it. Most people on ebay are pretty honest, it sounds like they just overlooked this.1

I had that for a slightly lower priced item and what I did was buy the label via eBay but change the address when doing so ( you can change the address easily) . I also replied to the buyers message and confirmed that as per their instructions I am sending to the new address. It’s not foolproof but with PayPal out of the equation I thought I’d stand a fighting chance if buyer tried the old INR trick for it being the wrong address. At least I had an audit trial showing I had acted in good faith, I had delivery confirmation via the eBay system and ultimately if I lost the case with eBay and felt aggrieved enough I still had small claims.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I had the same issue with a buyer purchasing a £200 item.
Emailed me after the sale and even changed is address on eBay, but it was too late as the address I was getting for the label was the old one - I assume that's fixed at point of sale.
Phoned eBay and they told me it was safe to send to the new address even though it wasn't on eBays postage system, since I had an email from the buyer in my eBay messages asking me to send to the new address - eBay would use this as evidence in the result of any claim.
All was fine in the end anyways, but as long as you have something in messages you should be ok.0 -

I just experimented with a label I just printed and can edit it however I want (Luckily I remembered to change it back!)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Like you Soolin I can edit the buyers address before I print it out.Good to hear that eBay would side with the seller if the message from the buyer states they want it sending to a different address. Wasn’t sure that would be the case.0
