Miss-delivered ebay item

Hi folks,

I bought a phone accessory on ebay, I haven't received the item though ebay has said item is delivered, tracking number provided.

I rang the post office customer service, they have stated that the item has been delivered to the wrong address and the local sorting office has three days to investigate, customer service also gave me a ref number.

I have been in contact with the seller and told him the above and also that I have a ref number which I haven't sent to him as yet.

Its only a small value item of just under £6 but still as I have paid for it, I do want the item.

What is likely to happen here, I have read somewhere that is it the sellers responsibility to make sure I receive the item (even though in this case its not his fault)

I have opened a not received item with ebay, and they did ask for me to contact the seller.

Wonder what is the best way to proceed.

Many thanks for any advice.

I’d suggest waiting for the post office to do their bit?

The INR will be closed in the sellers favour as soon as seller adds delivery confirmation to the case. I would always advocate trying to get the seller on your side so they can assist you with hassling Royal Mail and it might be that opening the INR will stop the seller spending time helping you, as once the case is closed that’s the end of it as far as a lot of sellers are concerned.

On the two recent occasions I also got told this "ebay always side with the sellers if they have delivery confirmation " - always by the sellers. EBay AI certainly does,  because "intelligence" and the law aren't something they are used to. The seller has a contract with their delivery service. It is up to the seller to show that that contract has been fulfilled. The OP has evidence it hasn't been.

OP - speak to a real person if you don't get satisfaction. I've had Ebay rule in my favour even after their "ai" decided otherwise,  because my evidence (CCTV) trumped theirs. You have evidence that you didn't get your delivery. Don't let anyone tell you that it's your problem. It isn't. Like you,  my items were small value. But it's the principle of the thing.

Assume the OP is referring to Royal Mail and not the Post Office
  • Thanks, its Royal mail.
  • I have tried ringing this number for ebay customer services (08003586551) but there is no option to speak to a human, just keeps going around in circles referring me to online help.

Anyone have a ebay number that actually will let me speak to someone.

    Many thanks.

    Have you tried this?
    https://pages.ebay.co.uk/customersupportguide/#:~:text=If%20you%20can't%20find,number%20and%20a%20PIN%20number.

it says they give you a direct contact number and a pin?
