AA breakdown issue

Had to call AA when engine overheating warning light came on , they did not come out ,and spoke to my husband over phone ,and said car was ok to continue journey , we did ,and as advised took it to garage but by then no warning light showing on car dash , garage said maybe faulty sensor , so we booked in for full diagnostics for last saturday ,so last friday engine overheating warning light came on again and went off in seconds , took for diagnostic showed sensor fault , this garage does not do repairs to sensor so he said book into auto electrician , im really annoyed as they say i should not drive it ,but how do i get it to the garage , no warning lights are showing at moment ,i feel that the AA should on our first call to them have arranged to take it to garage not just said over phone its ok and sent us on our way .my question is can i call AA to take car to garage to be fixed as i feel thats what they should have done in first place

Of course you can call them. The worst that can happen is they say "No".

Have you checked that you have coolant in the expansion bottle?

You can pay to have the car collected.

I don't think you will get the AA to collect or or pay to have it collected because your husband accepted their advice that the car was driviable, and it was.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

So long as their is coolant in the tank, then a faulty sensor will not stop your from driving to a garage to replace the sensor.
Odd that garage said not to drive? So is car still at garage. If so you should be able to get a auto electrician to fix it there.

I don’t think I’d take much notice of a garage that can’t change a coolant sensor. It’s not exactly rocket science.

First beat your husband, learn to lie better  o:).
When I called I said lots of lights came on, radio displaying engine damage will be caused and car would only reach 20 mph.
The AA came out no problem.
    Was a Nox sensor issue.

In your case I would have said the car juddered to a hault with some steam coming from the bonnet.
    Would not restart.
And lights were flashing on the dash.
I know I’m a terrible person, what can I say.

Sounds like you're trying to pin responsibility for your car on anyone and everyone.

The light flickers but the car drives okay?  What else do you think the AA are going to do?

Some faults are intermittent, what do you think the garage can do about that?

If the car drives fine, it's probably okay, just keep an eye out on the temp gauge on the way.

i feel that the AA should on our first call to them have arranged to take it to garage not just said over phone its ok

If the car was driveable then the AA would not arrange transport.

When the garage told you it may be a faulty sensor- which it turns out to be- did they not tell you that they would not be able to deal with that.

If they had, then you could have taken it to someone who could deal with it.

Your complaint is against the garage not advising you that they would not be able to deal with a faulty sensor- assuming you took it back to that garage for the diagnostic check.
