Half hourly energy reading.

Hello there. I am with eon next and I believe I have a smart meter. I had a decent quote from outfox the market so requested to switch but my switch has been cancelled because they say my electricity meter is set at half hourly and my measurement class is F and they only support A. Could someone explain in simpler terms what this means and if I will be restricted with out suppliers as well? It's very annoying!

Should add its my domestic premises. Is there anything I can do? How do I know if this is correct? Can't find much online.0

The classes are outlined here.

Seems odd that a supplier can’t handle half hour readings, I think all you can do is look at other suppliers.0 -
Seems even odder as OFTM required 30 minute readings for pocket power savings scheme.

The OP already has a meter giving half hour reads, it just appears that it's the wrong type of half hour reads (is it like the wrong leaves on a trainline). It's very strange and I have never heard of it.Keep_pedalling said:Seems even odder as OFTM required 30 minute readings for pocket power savings scheme.

What the OP is being told is that they only support class A and Class A is for meters not able to provide 30 min reads. Class F is for domestic meters with the ability to do 30 min reads and all suppliers should be able to support those.Peter999_2 said:

There are iirc business meters that are classed as "half hourly" meters (some with automated one way comms to report measurements) and associated tariffs - that predate domestic smart rollout.
Originally for higher power c100kVA, but dropped iirc by Ofgem decree to equiv of 3 phase 100A (c69kVA) now being fitted to some high use domestic homes.
(100A single phase, normal domestic fuse max = c23kVA)
Any chance the OP has some form of hangover from say small business metering rather than just OFTM confusion ?
E.g failure to reflect new domestic metering on meter database on a change of use ?
What for instance is the OPs MPAN / S number supply code (first 2 digits on top line) ?

I suggest you ask Eon Next to CoMC you back to NHH. OFTM should then be able able to take you on as a customer.
I suspect that OFTM systems are not yet up to handling HH billing for small/domestic customers.0
