Intelligent Octopus Flux
Thinking of switching to this Octopus "Beta" product as we have a Givenergy battery. As I understand with this tarrif you are basically handed over control of your battery to Octopus and trusting it to import/export at the times which yield the best return ? But the rates do seem very attractive - import and export BOTH the same ie 22.8p day and 30.5 peak.
Would appreciate any feedback from anyone who has been tempted to take the plung with this so called beta product!

Most Octopus TOU tariffs are marked as "Beta". It just allows them to make modifications, in the light of experience, without junking the whole thing. I'm not on IOF but I've not had any problems with any Octopus tariff I've been on.0

I’ve been on Intelligent Flux a couple of months now and it’s just run itself, peak usage is virtually non-existent and the exports have been very lucrative. Will switch back to Cosy come winter but a great generation season tariff.

All the energy storage in homes and cars now just waiting to be used to everyone's advantage.1 -
I started with Intelligent Octopus in January and it worked ok until March.
Since March I have not received a bill so I cannot tell my exports from my imports.
Peak import is between 16:00 and 19:00, the battery used to cover this but now does not export until 17:00 - 19:00 meaning I am forced to pay for higher tariff electricity between 16:00 to 17:00.
Overnight it charges my battery to 100% then around 05:00 it dumps 20% of it straight to grid, meaning I am paying for the charge and then straight away selling it back to Octopus at a lower rate. The battery then tops up during the day from solar to 100%.
I obviously have raised these issues about the system not working and that they are forcing me to use energy on a higher tariff than they signed me up for as its not working correctly.
I just get platitudes, 'we are sorry, we are looking into it'. Nothing has changed since the end of March so from my point of view I am not being looked after very well as a customer.
Anyone else having similar issues?1 -
I’ve had no trouble on IOF and I’ve been on it since March (there was one day where we caught it out a bit with shedloads of washing 🤣). Are you saying there’s nothing left in your battery by 4pm to get you through or that there’s power in the battery but it’s not using it for the house load?
I’ve always had a monthly bill from them but if you want to trigger one then just send them some meter readings.Smart Tech Specialist with Octopus Energy Services (all views my own). 4.44kW SW Facing in-roof array with 3.6kW Givenergy Gen 2 Hybrid inverter and 9.5kWh Givenergy battery. 9kW Panasonic Aquarea L (R290) ASHP. #gasfree since July ‘230 -

Yes. Billing has also been sporadic with Octopus charging me but not producing a bill. I've been chasing them for months without resolution.
The app suggests I should be in credit but my account is in debit.
It seems to work with my Givenergy battery but because of all the hassle I'll be switching away soon and will be looking for a better solution.0 -
I can't access this tariff anyway unless/until they support Solaredge. When when I look at rates there are only two shown, peak rate 16:00-19:00 and standard rate all other times. From this thread it seems some have a cheap rate as well.0
