Dehumidifier

Options
I bought a dehumidifier yesterday, much to my hate, as I hate spending money, like the rest of us on here I guess.
Anyway, this was probably one of the most satisfying purchases that I've ever made! I plugged it in, and within a couple of hours I had a couple of litres in the bucket! amazing.
We live about 150-200metres from the Mediterranean, and despite it not being very wet in the area, the humidity is high. it was 75% in the bedroom, thus leading to mould. And I got it down to 50%! not bad. Hopefully the dehumidifier will help sort out the problem in our appartment once and for all.

  • My parents had a 'Fred' - dehummidifier in their bungalow in Yorkshire - they liked it too - although my dad did measure the gap to the wall at exactly 6 inches - as the instruction manual had said!

Have a look at where the drip-tray drains into the bucket - some of them have what looks like the end of a funnel. You can fit some medium-bore plastic pipe to this (or possibly a hosepipe tap connector) and run it outside to save you emptying the bucket.

Hi there, could you tell me how you measured the humidity in the room please, my bathroom is so cold and damp but we live in a rented house so I wanted to see if I could give some 'proof' to the landlord so we could get this sorted!

Can I ask where you got it, what model is it and roughly how much it cost as it sounds like something I need?

I have considered one of these, but could never afford one. We get a lot of condensation in our house due to only half being double glazed and even that isn't so good now. I presume this is what we need? Plus would one be enough for a whole house or do you need a few?? I really have no clue about this.

hello, i bought it in Spain... where I live, it is a model that can take upto 20litres per day. i guess it depends on how wet your home is.
it was 140€, which seemed pretty good to me, as it has settings for the humidity and fan.

    hi Yvonne,

What I do is the following.

I have one dehumidifier and I move it into different rooms when needed. It's a unit on wheels. There are different sizes and things, but I opted for the biggest I could afford as I live on the coast, it is very humid and we have similar to yourself, half the home double glazed.
    i hope this helps.

Thanks! :T I thought when you were so happy with yours that I could purchase the same one because I prefer to get a personal recommendation from someone who already has purchased and used any gadget I am contemplating purchasing.

Can you tell me who makes it or what model it is, perhaps it could be purchased online?
