Parking ticket gone to debt collectors.

Hi please can I get some advice.
May last year I got a new car and I parked in the same car park twice in a week and I paid for the space on the app but I forgot to change my reg to my new car.
Then a few weeks later i received 2 parking fines from Napier car park which I appealed and sent the proof that I had paid but they still wanted to charge me but £20 for each (which I now wish I paid) but I emailed back to say this wasn’t right as I paid for the parking space and it was a mistake.
Then I left it and started receiving letters from bw legal with a fine of £160 each which obviously I’ve been panicking so I did call them and I said they can’t make me pay a fine when I have already paid but they didn’t care obviously.
What should I do? I’m worried I get taken to court and it then affect my credit score.
Thanks

They are not fines.
Debt collectors are powerless and can safely be ignored.
What happened when you complained to the landowner? That is always Plan A, and it is never too late to do so.
Do not ignore a letter of/before claim or a court claim. If you do get a claim, your ability to obtain credit will not be affected, even if you lose, as long as you follow the advice on this forum. This forum has a very high success rate in ensuring posters don't lose court claims from unregulated private parking companies.
Never, ever 'phone a parking company or any of their agents.
You should get stuck into the NEWBIES sticky Announcement so you know what to do if you do get a claim.

You need to read the NEWBIES thread because what we do DOES involve defending court claims (easy) but DOES NOT affect your credit score (as long as you don't ignore a court claim or move house and not tell them to erase the old address).
