Switching to First Direct via Quidco how?

Hello

Trying to switch an old account to my newly created 1 Account with First Direct. I have a Quidco account and there is a £65 cashback offer on top of any switch benefits from the bank. However, using the Quidco link from the app to "get" this cashback I am transferred to the First Direct website. It is not possible to actually switch from the web site, this has to be done in the app.

Given the above, how can Quidco actually track the cashback? Will this even work?

Thanks in advance,

I've just followed the link and it opens up the first direct site showing a screen offering 175 to switch so I am not sure what you are seeing?

Hi - Yes, you are prompted with a form to complete and a button saying switch account - but this does not trigger the switch process. This is also true if you complete name, and email address to open a new account. You must complete the process in the app.

Yeah I read that as well - but that's a condition of receiving the First Direct benefits. How does Quidco know that this has happened?

Ah, so entering your details and clicking continue opens up the relevant app store to download the first direct app.

I can't go any further than that as I have an account and already have the app on my phone.

Up to you but if you were going to switch anyway I'd download the app, complete the request and if it didn't track would raise a missing cashback claim with quidco.

    Will try that @GrumpyDil.

I just thought it might need to track via the web site as I'd imagine that the app knows nothing about the Quidco cashback offer. Another claim to raise :|

I had a similar query when I switched a few months ago, though I used Top Cashback rather than Quidco but it may well work in the same way. I went through TCB to First Direct to confirm the tracking, and then went through the relevant parts of the website which directed me to download the app. To keep the process connected I scanned the QR from the website with my phone (my thinking being that if I just went to my app store and dwnloaded then there would be no trail for them to follow to confirm I went through TCB). One the app was downloaded I set up my account and started the switch (from Barclays). I had to wait a while, and I had to open a claim but I have received the cashback, though I started the switch in January and I got the casback in the last 10 days, so it has been a fair wait. However, this method did indeed work for me, so it may well work the same trhough Quidco (or if you have both then try TCB). Patience required but you should, fingers crosed, get the cashback later in the year, a nice little bonus on top of the actual First Direct offer, £205 in total!

EDIT: Regarding the TCB cashback amount, I thought it was £30 but when I did the switch it was £36.75, and now is up for £45 on TCB, so £65 from Quidco is awesome! For anyone with TCB who wants the higher cashback rate, TCB have a guarantee that if you find a better cashback deal elsewhere then they will match it. I personally think TCB are better, back in the day I had bother but I haven't used Quidco for years now. TCB have better rates, a  match guarantee for the rate that aren't better and why pay two fees for different sites when you can pay one and stil get the best rates (either straight away or throught the guarantee)?

Did the switch to FD via TCB a few months ago.

Looks like Quidco is the same. Click the cashback link which takes you to the FD page. Select the switch option and you’re prompted to enter email address and name. This is what links FD to Quidco. I used the same email address for both. Not sure if different ones will or won’t work.

You then apply for the current account via the app. Once the account is setup, doesn’t take long, go into the account click the 3 dots in the top right. There is then an option to select ‘switch to us’.

Enter details of the account you want to switch in.

The cashback should then track. Might show as £0 for a while. But it will eventually change to the amount. Quidco is slow to pay out. So might have a wait.

FD does seem confusing at first as you have to open their current account first and then switch. But it’s not a tied up process like other switches

Try using Google Chrome as default browser on your phone.

Quite using Safari as default the relevant app doesn't open.
