Our Standard Chartered Young Weather Photographer of the Year category is open for entries!
The competition returns for its 9th year with bigger cash prizes and a stronger commitment to raising global climate and weather awareness. It remains free to enter and open to all ages and abilities.
Standard Chartered Weather Photographer of the Year showcases some of the world’s most striking weather and climate photography, providing an international platform to raise awareness about the environmental issues putting our planet at risk.
The competition is open to anyone under the age of 18. Please note that if you are under the age of 13, entries must be submitted by an adult on your behalf.
Your photo could be seen by millions of people worldwide and we are thrilled once again to partner with The Week Junior Science+Nature who will feature the winning photo across a double page in the November issue of the magazine. The winner will also receive a year’s subscription to the monthly magazine and a cash prize of £750.
Key dates
Entries open: 15 April – 18 June
Weather Photography 101 Webinar: 16 April, 7–8.30 pm (BST)
Judging period: 19 June – 19 July
Shortlist for Main and Mobile Phone categories announced: 19 September
Public voting period: 19 September – 17 October
All winners announced: 30 October
How to enter
Photographs submitted for the competition must have been taken between the 18 June 2019 and 18 June 2024.
Although the photographer for Standard Chartered Young Weather Photographer of the Year must be aged 17 or under, we require that a parent/guardian/responsible adult MUST register the entry and provide personal contact information relating to the adult on behalf of the young person if they are under 13.
Please note that adults can upload on behalf of several young photographers. However, each photographer can only have a maximum of 5 images submitted on their behalf. Application questions will be pre-populated as you go through each submission, but it is ok to change these if you are entering on behalf of a different photographer. Please submit the highest resolution photo available and provide the details requested on the entry form to tell us more about the photographer and their photograph.
