Student loan repayments for a loan I've never had

Hello, I hope someone can advise. For the past 2 months my employer has been making deductions for a student loan, however I have never studied in my life. I have contacted HMRC who advised to speak to the SLC and when I spoke to them they said they had details of an account in my name, however can't give me details as I can't pass their security checks as I'm unable to tell them where I studied (because I have never studied!!) This is so frustrating and I am going around in circles. Has anyone experienced this and know who to contact as I feel helpless and gobsmacked that they can take money off me which is leaving me in a vulnerable position financially?

I'd make a complaint using the SLCs complaints process
They will have to do something in reply to your query1 -
I will try this, thank you. If anyone else has had the same experience I would be grateful for any other advise on how this was resolved.0
