hi
migrating from TC to UC. I am selling quite a lot of my daughters old clothes (some i have had for 16 years and they have been stacking up!)
If i sell them on ebay will it affect UC? They are all personal items not bought to sell just outgrown (selling some of mine too because my weight has gone up and down due to gallbladder surgery)

If the money goes into the bank do i need to declare as income for UC? I haven’t started the claim yet, do they ask for amounts in the bank at start and end of assessment period or income figures?

Do I need to declare facebook sales if only personal items?

thanks

Selling personal possessions wouldn't be classed as income,  the monies received would be capital.
As long as you are under the £6k lower threshold then nothing to declare.

@HillStreetBlues      Thanks for the reply, I am over 16K so can only claim for one year unless we move house in the next year (that’s what the savings are for).
What do i do in that case?
Does that mean don’t declare as income for ebay but add it to the capital figure?
     thanks

Selling own personal items on Ebay is not self employment income.

As your savings are above £16k and there is the 12 month period when you can still claim UC, you would advise UC if your savings dropped below £16k. And on the 12 month anniversary, you will be asked to confirm your savings. If still above £16k, the claim will be closed.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

You need to report all of your capital/savings.
