Looks good but the treads look narrow to me, think I would have trouble coming down them. Might be worth checking before finishing off.Play with the expectation of winning not the fear of failure. S.Clarke0

pic shows each tread comprises 2 boards wide and the riser is just over 1 board highEldi_Dos said:Looks good but the treads look narrow to me, think I would have trouble coming down them. Might be worth checking before finishing off.
"standard" decking board is 120mm wide,
So in this case the minimum thread depth ("going") is 240mm (or in real numbers approx 9 1/2 inches) which therefore makes them deeper than most internal staircases (regulations are min 220mm and max 300mm).
The risers are a tad "shallow" as the typical riser should be 200mm for ideal comfort (220mm max) and the final riser appears to be less than all others, so technically the staircase is not to regulations, as the risers should be consistent.
technically there should also be a handrail (not yet finished?)

I believe it is 280mm minimum for exterior stair but by the by judging by the stonework of the properties this is a area that will get low temperatures in the winter so best to err on the side of caution. As I say I would have trouble coming down those stairs especially if lighting was poor.

For external steps it's 280-425, and 150-170 rise.1

Thanks for your comments, yes the thread is 240 and rise is 120 so slightly under but comfortable for us to use but will revisit it when needed.1
