Is there a way to find out if you've had a switching bonus before?

This is the post, an archive of past switching offers.

Can you remember when you opened the old Santander account? Have you emails going back that far? Check your credit history under closed accounts as that will list all old accounts you have opened and closed and when.

You can always just go for the switching offer, worst that can happen is that they don't pay it.
Thanks, that's a great resource for future reference! I do have many old emails from Santander but because I have a mortgage with them anyway, there seem to be thousands of them, mostly marketing junk. I haven't found one referring to opening a current account, but I know it was WELL before the first entry for them in that post. It may have been 15 years or more since I opened it and I don't remember whether switching bonuses were a thing back then.

The MSE Credit Club site doesn't seem to be working for me today, but I have ordered the free statutory report from Experian.

Is there any downside to frequent switching? This would be my third in about 3 years, having only switched to Nationwide 7 months ago. I'm not planning to apply for any new credit and my Experian score is 999.
MSE Credit Club moved to TransUnion (which you can see with Credit Karma) so the only way for the free report is a trial or as you have done. You can also check ClearScore for your Equifax report.

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Thanks. I looked in MSE Credit Club and all my details on the Register tab were correct. There was a button marked "Submit for TransUnion verification" (or words to that effect) but clicking it didn't seem to do anything. I tried a few times but it just kept reverting to the same screen. That's when I went to Experian, but it seems they have to send me a code in the post.

I'll have a look at ClearScore too. I didn't know about that one. Thanks.

You might as well just use Credit Karma now, the data is the same for the MSE Credit Club

Experian statutory report they have to do free but they want to try and tempt you with their paid for offerings so it's not automatically easy to get the free report.

I'm thinking about the Santander Edge account for the £175 switching bonus. I did have a current account with them, probably 6-8 years ago and I still have a mortgage with them. But I can't remember whether there was a switching bonus back then.

Will they tell you, during the process, whether you'll definitely get the bonus i.e. so that if they say no, you can click Cancel? Or do you have to go through with it and then just hope for the best?
I have banked with Santander for around 15 years and when they offered the £185 switch offer in March I decided to try my luck and opened an everyday account, I couldn’t remember if I had ever received a switch incentive from them previously. I did receive the £185 from them, so I would say it is worth applying, because even if you don’t qualify, you can close or switch the account.
