New conservatory roof / insulated / light tiles

Hi all I am thinking of getting my conservatory glass roof insulated. I am sick of not being able to use it in winter or in the summer.
Conservatory size 4.4m x 3m 13 sqm
I originally was going to get fitted blinds that attaches to each panel but was quoted 3.5k to 5k which I think is a crazy price. I than looked into a few companies that attach battens to the inside frame and insulate and finish off with either plasterboard or the pvc boarding. The outside of the conservatory will still look the same. I was quoted
1.5k for pvc boarding
1.9k for plasterboard and skim finish.
I than looked into the light tiles alot of companies use on the roof.
One quote was 5.9k
Light weight tiles on roof
insulating inside the roof / plaster & skim
two velux windows..
They remove the glass, use the existing aluminium frame with boarding and build the rest on the roof.
Another quote was £4.4k

This company uses the existing aluminium frame and glass
10 year guarantee for tiles and work involved
I am torn between the two. 4.4k seems like a good price and nearly 6k is just over my budget. Has anyone had such work done on their conservatories with the above methods?
Any help much appreciated.

Also I've read with such work to be carried out I don't need planning permission because I am using the same frame?0

That's a good price with 2 Velux, great idea by the way! Can you clean the Velux easily at roof height?I'd go the tiled roof, they look great. Our's is a similar size and quote is £1k lower but no Velux.Does your price include VAT? Our's is inclusive.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

Also the price does include vat and 10 year warranty.1 -
Getting it done in August, they build a timber frame roof. The old Aluminium inside the PVCu bits will be weighed in for scrap value when I next go!! Got a few KG's of brass and copper so worth the trip!!Price includes vat and a guarantee - I think it was 5 years - I might ask about Velux I like the idea of more light!!Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Hi DeeDee.
You mention that your existing roof is 'glass', so presumably double-glazed? If so, that will be much heavier than a polycarb roof, and your aluminium rafters far more sturdy than, say, Mr G's.
In which case I see no issue in keeping them for the new lightweight roof.0 -
We had ours done a few years ago. Removed the mouldy plastic roof and the aluminium frame and replaced with a new wood frame, insulated boarded and skimmed. We have tapco tiles. We used a local tradesman for it, he also replaced the window sills in the conservatory on the dwarf wall with more durable plastic. Painted inside, new light fitting and a Velux.
If I recall it was about 7K but totally worth it and we use it so much more than we ever would have (which was hardly at all, and even then, reluctantly).0 -
