Double Glazing on Credit?

Hi there,

I was hoping to get new windows fitted throughout my house with ECO4 grant, but now losing confidence that this is possible. (have posted about this separately)

Its an old council house (new to me, purchased in March) and the handles are falling off, hinges broken, dirty - they will just about do for now but barely.

The only way I could get them fitted myself is on credit, but none of my local "trusted" suppliers do this, I'd have to go further a field.

Anyone got experience of this/can advise?

I'm a first time buyer so this is all new new new to me!

Thanks

Any firm that sells you double glazing on credit will massively overcharge. Could you get a credit card / loan to cover the cost - it will probably work out much cheaper

This was essentially what I was going to say. The big names are all significantly more expensive that smaller independent businesses.

Depending on how bad the existing is though, it is possible to get the part replaced including handles, glass that is misted etc. Possibly another avenue worth looking into

Credit cards are OK IF you can repay the full amount before incurring interest charges. Otherwise, they would be one of the more expensive options.
A personal loan is likely to be cheapest (had a quick look, and some lenders are offering ~6% APR). Pays to shop around though. Using credit arranged by the installer is often a poor choice - They may get paid a referral fee (kickback) which you will end up paying. The interest rate may also be quite a bit higher than from your bank.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

However you pay for them, do not pay more than a small % upfront.
