Edit or start new credit file request
BinaryJava
Hi all,
I have recently opened a credit file request with Experian in order for us to prove credit history before looking at mortgage options. However, when I submitted the request, I inputted the wrong address as I am currently living with my partner, but all my banking details, bills and voting address are at my parents address.
Should I start a new Experian credit file request with my new address? I can't see anyway to edit this current one, apart from giving the support line a call. Would this look bad on my credit history to have opened two credit file reports?
Thanks

You don't have to prove credit history. Lender does that.Life in the slow lane0

We have specifically been requested by a mortgage broker to each to a credit file reportborn_again said:You don't have to prove credit history. Lender does that.0 -
Doesn't your information just come up when you go through the log in process and enter your details?BinaryJava said:

In any case both addresses may appear on the file as places you are associated with.0 -
I received an email saying that they need proof of address and for me to mail them associated documents, but I don't have any as it's my partners house. I'm unable to login until I receive the passkey in the post, but they aren't going to send it until they confirm the address. So wondering if I should just start over, or contact their support to change the current application.Emmia said:

Why not contact them and explain the situation - your banking is registered at address A but you are living at address B for the moment but haven't moved the bits over because it's temporary as you are looking to buy a house, this isn't an unusual arrangement for people
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Or, can you switch the address of one of your accounts and/or the electoral roll to the address you're actually living at? There's an election coming so you should really ensure your electoral roll entry is correct for that.

So we have had confirmation from Experian that they can't edit an existing credit report, you can start a new one with no trouble.0
