Child benefits

I have recently became a mother for the first time.
I have applied for child benefit but don't completely understand the payments.
The letter I received says my child is entitled to £25.60 per week but that they will pay me £24 per week. I know its only £1.60 difference but it doesn't say why it is less than the full amount.
I earn way less than 60k so its not that I'm a high earner, and I don't receive any other financial help, so why don't I get the full amount?

Is it something to do with child benefit being £24 until 6th April & then £25.60 afterwards.  So £24 from the childs birth until 6th April then increased to £25.60 for the weeks after.  Perhaps check the wording on the letter.

Sounds like a badly worded letter or a letter which includes the rate before the increase as mentioned above. Check your bank when you receive you next payment to make sure it's correct. If it's 4 weekly payments you have then your payment should be £102.40 every 4 weeks.
