Where to find average Home insurance costs for the last 20 years

Options
Hi all, my mum and step father split up some 20 years ago and he is now after his share of equity from their home. My mum's solicitor has said they can reduce what he is owed by deducting the mortgage payments he hasn't paid and also the home insurance cost. However we only have insurance cost back to 2016. Is there an archive or somewhere I could locate the general cost of home insurance for a 3 bed terrace for 2003 - 2016? Thanks

I'd have thought the general rate of inflation would be close enough? Presumably the amounts aren't huge anyway so no point going to town with debating what the figure ought to be.

You would need it by postcode and claims history and type of cover.

As mentioned above. just adjust it for inflation from the 2016 figure backwards.

The ABI publish a lot of industry data though for non-members it's often limited to things in news articles but price overtime is a common topic. For example https://www.abi.org.uk/news/news-articles/2024/2/the-cost-of-home-insurance-rises-as-insurers-support-customers-and-battle-cost-pressures/ shows the average cost since 2013, were you to find an older article it will probably go back further.

Obviously need to make sure you read carefully what you are looking at, the chart in the above link for example is inflation adjusted and its for builds & content whereas presumably you want building only.
