How on earth do you (legally) buy/download music these days?

  • Listening to music on YouTube is the easiest, can listen and watch at any time and is completely free.

I thought I knew the answer to this as I've used Amazon to download individual tracks often. Easy.
Just went in to check and it's not straightforward as has the rest of the site. Difficult to navigate though may be easier with practise. Admittedly I didn't go right through. Life seems to short to deal with all that they want to sell for one item you want.

I used to find some lovely new artists on YouTube when they just gave you more of what you'd searched for but now it's all mixed up.

Currently using CDs from charity shops which I can move via my computer to any gadget or all of them.
    Works out cheaper too.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Sometimes you want to listen to stuff where there's no wifi or mobile data available or you don't have a large enough data allowance to squander on streaming music.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
  • I used to subscribe to Tidal Music (streaming service) and that included an option to download your choice of music to your logged-in device for later playback where no internet connection exists. Did my parents Ruby Wedding party with it all on the iPad connected via Bluetooth to a decent speaker.

Assuming you mean buying MP3s rather than CDs/Vinyl then iTunes Store, Amazon Music, Google Play.
I'd actually forgotten about making this thread.

Preferably CD in this case although will have to see if it's even available on CD. MP3s are fine as a next option.

    Vinyl is not an option.

    Thanks for the responses all.

Though any talk of subscribing is an instant non-starter. I can't see me coming round to that way of thinking, not in this lifetime. I'd rather keep acquiring music the way I have been acquiring it than pay a sub to stream though for this case it's different.
