    How long has the lake been there?  If it was built at the same time as the houses then that would make it seem much more part of the development than if it were significantly older.  The old maps available at https://maps.nls.uk/ can help get an idea of how long it has existed.
    Well the lake was definitely already there when I kept an eye on the houses being built 3 years ago, but Ill check this out,out of curiosity.  Thank you.

    One of the residents has told me the area comes under the sustainable drainage system with a new planning policy implemented in 2015 to cover all new developments and suggested I check council  website.
