I am a relatively new homeowner and am reviewing my energy efficiency. I dont have a gas supply in my house, only electric. Without having to be put on hold for hours by Powergen/E-ON can anyone tell me when the Economy 7 plan off peak hours are as i dont think im using them enough!?

somwhere around 1am til 6am Have just had my E7 meter taken out as I was paying a premium for the normal usage which was not being cancelled out by the E7 think they are not a good option these days0

They vary slightly depending on the region but mine used to be 1 am till 8am(you always get 7 hours through the night)That helped me to do the washing ,ironing and shower before 8 am.But this last 6 months i have gone back to a normal meter and i intend seeing if there is a saving, though the last bill showed there wasn't much in it.However i have gas,so if you have all electric, there should be a good saving with economy 7.0

We have E7 and put the DW and WM on overnight every night - last time I looked we used 1/3 of our energy overnight. I think if you go to a site like uswitch you could type in your usage with or without E7 and see what the difference was - I think I'll do that next month to see if it is time to change. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

Hi, taken this off E.ON's website.
Our dedicated energy efficiency team runs a variety of schemes throughout the year. For more information on any of our schemes contact our friendly energy efficiency team online or alternatively call free on 0500 201 000 Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.
they're normally quite quick to get through to. (i work for them, and usually found this dept to be very helpful)0 -
thanks for all that info folks.
Does anyone else out there have knowledge of electric-power central heating? I have looked into a system call Fusion which says it charges itself on off peak times while providing heat to wet or dry radiators on demand. Am planning to call the power companies to ask them about it but its always good to hear consumer experience too.0 -

If you give a link for Fusion we can advise.
However there is a firm of that name who make the usual exaggerated claims for solar power.
The only electrical heating that is reasonably cheap to run depends on some form of storage heating using Economy 7/10 tariffs.
There are a lot of firms with misleading adverts selling overpriced systems.0 -

These are not storage heating systems. They are simply electrical heating that runs on 'normal' daytime electricity; and there is no more expensive way of heating a house.
Lots of threads on similar systems if you do a search.
You will get EXACTLY the same amount of heat(for the same cost) from any type of electrical heater that you can buy for £20-£30 or so -e.g. fan heater, oil filled radiator, Granny's 1/2/3 bar electric fire.0 -
the brochure they sent me said it runs on economy 10, but are you saying it would be better to stick with storage heaters?
economy 10 sounds better than economy 7 though as you get a boost in the afternoon. Whats your view?0
