Is this possible? .....as I have been gifted two crowns and no space in my little garden.

I don't see why not, provided the container is big enough; the soil is decent, (i.e. nutrient rich) and the plants are watered.

Agreed the important thing will be the container being deep enough - Probably 50/60cm by maybe a foot across the top per crown, so you're looking something like two of the 70L tubs here (no association, I just bought some from here for my potatoes)
