Apple USB to USB C Adapter not working?

I bought a USB to USB C adapter to use along with a SanDisk flash drive in order to back up my photos from my iPhone 15. But the SanDisk app doesn‘t recognise when the adapter in inserted in to the iPhone.
The flash disk works fine when inserted directly in to a computer. So that can’t be the issue.
I bought an Anker adapter previously which I think worked the first time I used it. But didn’t work this time. So I presumed this was due to the adapter not being an Apple product. Hence why I bought the Apple version.
Does anyone have any advice, before I return the adapter to the Apple Store?

Is the flash drive an iXpand model? If so is it USB 2 or 3?
iOS doesn't have native support for flash drives and the SanDisc app states its only for this range of drives, the app for USB2 has been discontinued too and the the current version states it only supports USB3
Any reason to go straight from iPhone to Flash? The phone is designed to go via cloud storage but could also go to PC and then to Flash which may be easier/cheaper than buying new kit.1 -
Thanks for the reply… It is a iXpand model with USB 3 & Lightning connectors.
I have been using the Lightning connector to back up my wife’s iPhone SE photos. So bought the USB to USB C adapter to also use with my iPhone 15.
I dont have a PC. Only a Chromebook. And backup my photos also to a cloud service.
I also like to keep the photos backed up on the Flash Drive. Which has been quite simple up to now with the iXpand connecting directly in to the iPhone.0 -
Does the cable packaging (or the Apple store) say that cable is suitable for data transfer? You have to be careful when buying USB cables because some cables are for 'charging only'.ie They onliy have the wires for charging a device and do not have the wires to transfer data, sometimes they don't even have the data pins in the connector.
(It's cheaper to make them without all the wires/pins).Of course it could be simply a faulty cable, manufacturing faults do happen.
In which case return it for replacement.0 -
It is a brand new part that appears faulty. There is no point in wasting time troubleshooting. Just return it.
