T&C just changed

How can I do if a website suddenly changed their return period?
It was 28 days, and they just shortened it to 14 days. I'm sure this change was made these few days, because I happened to return another order, which the original date of purchased was 2 days away from this one. Another order was accepetd by their return portal like 4 days ago, but the one I wish to return is not alllowed by the portal.
The customer service barely replies, and I'm nervous now.
Thanks.

there is often something on the receipt or invoice that gives the current to the purchase T&Cs.

I don’t really follow exactly what's happened because your account is really ambiguous, but in principle, whatever terms were in place when you bought the item are those that apply to that purchase.  They can't retrospectively apply inferior terms to your contract without your agreement.

If your later order was placed after they shortened the return period (and that was known or available to you) then that order is subject to a 14 day return restriction, unless of course it's faulty.

It will be the terms that were in force at the time the contract was bound unless there are clauses that allow the terms to be altered but that could be argued that is an unfair contract term.

Depending on how big the company is you can check the address of the terms and condition in the WayBackMachine to see what the terms were on the day of your purchase or a couple of days later before the terms changed to the shorter period.

What's the website?  You can often access prior versions of published pages at the likes of the Wayback Machine:

    Wayback Machine (archive.org)

which may allow you to see what the policy was at the time of purchase.

However, it sounds like you're returning relatively frequently, so is it possible that they're placing restrictions on your account perhaps?

I thought that for online purchases you had 14 days to inform them that an item was being returned, and 28 days to actually return it.  Is that not part of consumer law?

    Theory.

Thanks for the Wayback Machine, but it didn't have the date I needed.

Nope. They changed the T&C section. I happen to have another order placed around May 19, and I tried to use the return portal, and it would generate the label successually. Therefore it's not related to account as such.

I literally called the storefront, and even they weren't aware of the T&C change, so it's very recent and most likely from June on.

I'm sure the return policy was 28 days for full-price, and 14 days for sale items.

I placed 2 different orders, one on May 2, and another on May 4. Both are on full-price items.
The one on May 2 was returned using their return portal on May 28, and the label was generated on May 26.
But the return for the May 4 one cannot be registered as the return policy changes to 14 days. I don't think they updated this T&C back in May 3-4. Because the physcial stores still follow the old return policy. I called earlier today, and it's been confirmed.
A lady from the store told me it should be fine. The T&C for the website and the physical stores should be the same. She hasn't heard of the changes, so it's likely the new rules from June on. She said will talk to the CS if I have issues sending it back.

    Thanks.

Does it have something post your purchase that still has the longer period? Civil law works on the basis of the "balance of probabilities" so if you can establish that before and after the purchase they had the longer period and its only after a later date that the policy changed it would seem more likely or not that its a more recent change as typically companies dont flip flop between two sets of terms
