I have 2 tickets booked for a gig tomorrow - my wife had to have an op on both eyes on Monday & will probably be not fit enough to go (eye issue was diagnosed after we bought the tickets in Oct

We had taken out insurance through Ticketplan who handily only man their phones until 12.30!!

So likely hood of insurance being paid out if we claim?  Obviously i dont want to go on my own, so would both our tickets be covered??

TIA

Do you not have the terms of the insurance policy?

Acting responsibly you would have notified your insurers when you knew of this eye op.  As you did not do so I don't think they'll pay out

I would guess they should pay out for both of you, but you'll only know if you claim.

We were hoping she'd be fit enough to attend which sadly it appears this won't be the case which is the reason we did not notify

I do understand your position and indeed have found myself in a similar situation previously - having to deal with travel insurance regarding cancelling a holiday.

You've got nothing to lose by trying to claim but from my experience, you're required to tell the insurers as soon as you know that you might need to claim.

Whilst I think it's unlikely you're successful I certainly support you trying to claim and fingers crossed you'll get a good result.

Can you sell the tickets? Is the gig near to where you live, if so, you could arrange to meet hte buyer at hte venue.

They can only deny the claim if the late reporting has prejudiced their ability to investigate the claim or has increased the costs.

In this case it doesn't even appear to be late reporting given the advices given.

On the other path, to consider it non-disclosure then under CIDRA they must explicitly instruct the OP to inform them of any medical conditions that develop during the term of the policy, they cannot rely on the OP to think this is a good idea of their own accord. There is nothing in the terms pasted above to say about reporting new conditions and would be highly surprised if there weer in the full terms either as there is no medical underwriting on these types of policies

You may need a medical report confirming your wife is not able to attend.
