Printers!

My cheap Epson XP 4205 is printing blank. I tried everything.
I'm really tired of cheap printers with expensive ink that do not last a year. I'm willing to spend £200 max but not sure whether to go for a laser or a tank?
I need cheap running costs. I'm not a huge printer (printerer?) but it goes in phases.
Recommendations?

Recommendations? If you use the printer sporadic then the laser printer is the only way to go, because regardless of brand all inkjets will eventually dry up and cause this problem. As laser printer toners are powder based, there's nothing to dry up as its already dry.The downside though is particularly for colour they can be expensive to run and buy but you'll get more pages out of a toner than you ever will out of an inkjet cartridge. If you want cheap running costs then inkjet with the above problem is the way to go.Or just trek to the local library and do all your printing from there which depending on your usage may be cheaper overall than a lump of plastic just sitting in a corner doing nothing for months on end.0 -
So, a cheap printer with cheap ink costs me £90 a year in ink, plus £30 for cheap printer = £120. Lasts about 2 years then need a new printer. I print around 500 pages a year. Cost over 4 years = £420.
The Laser printer I found HP Color LaserJet Pro M255dw is £155 on Ebay (Which Best Buy). Does it all, double sided, colour etc. I can't even find the ink for this one, unless I buy unbranded but I like to start with a compatible set.
A laser colour printer that does double sided seems to require a small mortgage.

Might be worth looking at hp instant ink. It's a subscription service and you can roll over pages from months where you hardly print anything. It's definitely saved us money compared to buying ink cartridges.MFW since March 2019Mortgage-free 30th June 2023
