British Gas

Hello,
I am looking for advice from anyone that can help me regarding a gas bill that I have received from British Gas on the 25.5.24.
I have received my latest gas bill and the gas bill shows that I owe a total of £4447.28p. I have contacted British Gas on their online portal to discuss this bill three times now and each time I speak to Customer Services the bill has increased in value..
I am told that the bill is so high as I have been paying on estimated bills since October 2023. This is not the case as I have given meter readings online which the Customer Service Agent denies ever receiving. I more or less work 7 days a week and so little time is spent at home. When at home I only have the central heating on for around 4 hours then off to bed. Anyone with an atom of intelligence can see that this bill is wrong.
I am nearly at my wits end trying to discuss this issue with British Gas.
Can anyone suggest what I can do to solve this.
Martin, if you read my post can you advise please?
Many Thanks.

Welcome! Martin doesn't read posts, or really have anything to do with the site any more.
What do the readings on the bill say and what does the reading on your meter say?0 -
Dealing with a similar problem
Check on your online account if you have the old statements - then download and save them all. The old actual readings will be on there.
All of my Gas readings have been deleted by them - smart meter and my own readings. Have managed to get them to escalate to finance to investigate. Have also lodged an official complaint. Dont use the online chat, ring them up.

Thank you to everyone that has replied to my post regarding British Gas.
To be honest I am totally stressed with the whole thing at the moment. I just feel like paying the bill just to relieve my stress. Then I thinking about changing provider of my gas.
My latest bill indicates that I owe £2014.27p from the 3.10.23 to the 1.1.24.
1.1.24 to the 1.4.24 the bill says that I owe £2227.08p.
1.4.24 to the 7.5.24 the bill says that I owe £138.66p.
There is not any indication on my bill showing the amounts that I have already paid during this calender period.
Surely the amounts that I have already paid show as a deducted amount.
Unfortunately I had a paper clear out recently and shredded all my old bills.
Can anyone suggest if there is anyone in the UK that I can speak to instead as I am finding the online chat and also speaking to someone on the very pointless as I seem to be getting nowhere fast.
Many Thanks.

Readings. Meter readings on the bill and the reading on the meter.
Your first post said that you were getting a high bill because estimates had been replaced with actual readings, which you say is not correct.
You've stopped saying that the bills are high now, and started saying that they've just ignored payments already made.
First thing to do is determine whether the bills are right in terms of the amount you have used.0 -
What were your meter readings at the start of the billing period and what are your meter readings now?
It would be helpful to know how many kWh of energy you have used so that we can see if the bill amounts are anything like correct.0
