unexplained £200 charge

Options
Booked a property in March. Owner failed to grant us access and Booking.com cancelled and refunded the cost. However while I was checking that monies had been returned I noted that initial payment had been put back into account bur there was now a charge of £ 201.21 being lodged against my credit card being claimed by booking.com.  I have been trying for over 6 weeks to have this charge explained and returned I have supplied the information they have asked for and I seem to be getting run around .  They stated they did not recognise such a charge but if I could contact my bank and get a merchants referance number they would pursue further, I did so and nothing after giving them a little room to investigate I tried contacting them and they are askinf for all the information they asked for in the begining which I have done and again they have asked for merchants reference from bank.  Back at square one

Is it a debit that has been taken - or just a reserved amount?

Contact your CC and ask if it's a charge or hold. If a charge, dispute it and demand a chargeback with the information you have provided.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
