Hello everyone,
Does anyone know if it's possible to recycle old software CDs? I don't mean music CDs or games - I've been having a clear-out and found a couple of HP 'software and documentation' CDs (I think for an old printer and monitor). I'd really rather not just chuck them in the bin as that's harmful, but sites like Ziffit don't accept this kind of CD. Any thoughts?

In principle its possible to recycle them but its difficult and as such most places dont accept them as its uneconomical.
Ziffit resell what you provide them and not many people are in the market for some old HP manuals on CD

There's nothing to recycle. All you've basically got is an old out of date driver CD, which will have been superseded by newer versions on the website.Either chuck them away or repurpose them in the garden as bird scarers or similar. Alternatively:

CDs / DVDs are pretty much landfill only. They are almost impossible to recycle even though they may contain some metals.

Thank you for the advice - I accept that no one will want these, I'm just trying to dispose of them responsibly.0

A google shows one company that can recycle them but they are clearly a B2B setup so looking at companies with thousands of discs not a private person with a handful.0 -
I know this is a fairly old question but whilst looking for the same thing, I came across this website recycladisk.co.uk Haven't used it yet but thought it may be useful info.0

I have a desktop computer that is about 10 years old that someone bought and the confined to a cupboard It is handy as I have a lot of data on discs and am at present transferring them onto one of my hard drives,At some point I will get rid but it does take time to wade through everything. Somewhere I have some tutorials that are stll of use.0
