Will changing effect my smart meter appointment

Hi all, we are currently with octopus and are due to have a smart meter installed tomorrow afternoon. I've seen the ecotricity fix deal and was wondering if I start the process of moving my tariff to them today whether it would stop the smart meter I stall tomorrow

Kind regards Mark

Octopus contract out their smart meter installation, so it's highly unlikely that the message would get through. Also the switch takes some time to come into effect, so you'll still be with Octopus when it is fitted in all likelihood.

Probably not, but perhaps it should.  As has cost Octopus time and effort to arrange.

But then you could always wait 2 days and switch the day after in any case.

I personally would not want to risk of potential problems issues of old and new meter readings and a switch of supplier at same time.  Neither are rare enough to ignore need for checking carefully.

And again I would favour meters from new not old supplier - if they fit them more likely to match their billing and configuration standards.

Especially so if currently on non standard - like dual electric - and or dual rate -  metering.
