HMRC community forums

Does anyone here use the HMRC community forums?
I am unable to sign in and if I try to register the "generate new image" code is just a grey box and the audio code in not working either.

I do watch the webinars but would prefer to post a question on the forum.

You could always post it here? 🤔

I have posted questions on their forums and got no replies at all.  I had assumed from what I'd read that even if the public didn't respond you'd get something from HMRC itself directing you to the answer to your query.  Waste of time to me.

seen quite a few responses on there from HMRC staff who obviously do not have the technical knowledge to actually answer the question in full and so either give superficial responses, or on a few occasions, downright wrong ones.

At least on here if someone is wrong their post will soon be corrected by someone who does know (and often evidences it)

I've posted a few questions and always had an HMRC admin reply. They're not always consistent (fixed bond maturity / yearly interest etc) but they've always replied.

I didn’t find the community website helpful but I used the chat option on the HMRC website. If you type advisor in the chat they will put you through to a human. Sometimes you have to type it a few times. Then you get in a queue but it moves quite quickly. I have had a few helpful contacts and two less helpful but at least you get through. Better before 10 am. They want your name address date of birth and national insurance number so have that ready.

I tried twice to use this site; my experience wasn't a positive one. The first "admin" didn't really read (or understand?) the question and gave a totally irrelevant answer; the second did read and also answered but what he said was wrong as I found out later. I haven't bothered since not least because other people I know have had similar experiences.

So they do answer (though not very quickly, took a day or two) but not helpful.

I have to contact them about an issue. Is the chatbot on your personal tax account or somewhere else. I had a quick look the other day and could not find it .

It’s on the contact us page. https://www.gov.uk/contact-hmrc Select the right option. Ask HMRC online.

I already tried that but it just keeps pointing me to my personal tax account, (which is where the problem is) rather than actually replying.
I will call them at 08.00 one day soon.
