Kia EV3

Could someone explain this to me ?
"The new Kia EV3 has an ultra-wide digital display that stretches almost 30 inches end-to-end. There is a 12.3-inch driver display, a 5.0-inch climate control panel and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, which offers the latest Premium Streaming tech delivered via LG Web OS. It means users can play arcade games inside the new Kia EV3, which the kids (and big kids) will love."

I always thought that cars were primarily used to get from A to B - Not a game centre ?
How can someone drive safely with "kids" playing Donkey Kong on the dashboard ?

All these distractions, but not allowed to even touch your phone.

There def needs to be some consistency

Many many years ago a colleague had a screen of some sort on the dash of his Vauxhall which showed films, presumably by way of DVD. The images were clearly visible to the passenger but when the screen was turned towards the driver it would shut off. Can’t help but think that it still wasn’t a distraction when the passenger was watching the screen.

It's presumably to give the occupants something to do when charging. So instead of playing on your phone for 20 minutes you can play a game or watch a film.

It's not going to let you play it whilst the car is "in gear" for lack of a better term.

The gaming is not a feature yet. It is something that maybe implemented in the future.

As a Kia owner, they are sending out questionnaires to owners asking about this & other feature they may implement. Of course they all come on a subscription basis.

This is actually the same screen as the EV9 & the facelift EV6 👍ccNC system.

Electronic gimmicks is a way to ensure vehicles become obsolete.  Who knows what software will be needed in 5 years, never mind 10 or 20 to run on board systems.

The C & U Regs forbid any ‘entertainment ‘ device to be visible to the driver while driving. Perfectly OK for the passengers.

It could have one of those privacy filters like you get on laptops that reduce the viewing angle to straight ahead to stop people in the next seat seeing what you are doing, it can be switched on & off.

IIRC Rangerover used to have a filter like those old 3D cards we had as kids (each eye had a different view angle and saw a different picture) where the driver sees one image, and the passenger sees another.

If it is implemented, it will be limited to when car is parked. Usually has connection to handbrake.

I have a current Niro & can watch films on head unit. But only while parked. If you try while moving it gives a warning message & does not display film.
