Move on or stay?
Hi,
I'm with So Energy on their "So Juniper One Year" rate, it expires in Aug. I'm not 100% happy with the tariff rate as it's a bit trumpy compared to others. To exit will cost me £150. I am in debit currently and have a DD that comes out on 28th of every month.
My husband says that we should stay until the term of the contract (i.e. Aug) to avoid the fees and then move on. But I am concerned about not securing a fixed rate now and ending up paying more when it comes to renewal.
Advice welcome.
Thanks in advance

You are able to leave a fixed deal without penalty up to 49 days before the expiry date. Those are industry rules which So Energy have to comply with. If the end date of your fix is towards the beginning of August, you could be only a mater of two or three weeks away from that - e.g. if the deal expires on August 1st, then you could move from around the middle of June. It would be daft to incur a £150 penalty when you're that close to being able to leave without it.1

End date is the 11th0

It would need to be a massively cheaper tariff now than in 4 weeks time to offset £150 of fees.
I think that's extremely unlikely.0 -
23rd June is 49 days before 11th August according to Alexa0
