How long do applications take to show on credit file

Hi everyone

long story short, I’ve got a good credit rating and locked in my mortgage for 5 years so can afford to hammer my credit file to maximise credit card offers (as I’ll have years to rebuild it).

I want to open at least two new credit cards: one balance transfer and the other 0% purchases. How long will one lender take to report the application to my credit file and for it to show up (and potentially damage my chances of getting credit card number 2)?

a while ago I did something similar and applied for three cards all on the same day successfully. Took about a month for all the new accounts to show on my file.

thanks

The hard searches will show immediately.

As for the actual account, that can vary between a week to a month or so after application but varies on provider.

Two applications in a short time shouldn't pose a problem as long as the rest of your history has been well maintained.

Just remember that the report "you" see isnt as up to date as the report that lenders see. Just because you don't see it on your report for 320 days, doesnt mean the lenders dont see it "instantly"

Strongly disagree with that. It depends when they report the search to the CRAs.

I always advise to use totally money dot com for their live credit report.

As mentioned above.  Lenders see immediate updates.  There is a delay for consumer credit files.

How when lenders use consumer credit files?

Isn’t that just only a report of transunion?

As I understand Creditors/Lenders see the search the same time you do. I don’t believe they get any extra data that you can’t see if you say got a full report from Experian the same day - they’d see the same information.

I’ve had searches appear instantly, some on the next refresh (but with the right date recorded)

I've found most hard searches don't appear for a while or sometimes not at all. Not instantly.
