Barclays have bought Tesco's finance arm but there is little chance they are running their systems or making changes to customer's rates. There is plenty of history of these changes on this forum, it's purely coincidence

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I have a Tesco Credit Card. I have had it for years and my current monthly interest rate is 0.639%. I don't think I have ever had an increase, but then I don't owe anything on it either. I pay a few bills with it each month and pay it off in full.

To be pedantic, Barclays haven't bought it yet.  The wheels are in motion, but the deal has yet to even receive regulatory approval, so nothing can even start to be done until the powers-that-be have given the go-ahead.  And even when the deal is approved, it'll take a couple of years minimum for all the Tesco systems to be migrated onto the Barclays platform.
