Always worth mentioning, as very few seem to care.MysteryMe said:Before cutting the hedge make sure there are no birds nesting, it's a wild life crime to disturb a nest. This sort of work is best done late summer/autumn time when nesting season is over.
I currently have dozens of birds nesting in my mixed hedgerow, it's a beautiful moment to enjoy.
My neighbours, with basically the same hedge, have both employed 'professionals' to cut theirs in the last couple of weeks.
Of course, the chances of prosecution are virtually zero but nonetheless, we should all be making an effort to protect the wildlife...2 -
As you point out, any "professional" who just hacks away at large shrubs / trees this time of year without even discussing it with the homeowner is basically just a cowboy who shouldn't be employed in the first place.2
