Defaulted Virgin account from 2017

Options
Help and advice very much appreciated.

I have a mental health disability and finances are a major trigger for me.

I'm working towards fixing my credit file, but I have a recorded default with Virgin Media on my Equifax report.
The account says opened May 2017 and last update April 2021.

I am seeing missed payments for August, September, October, November and December 2019, but no default date.

I am unsure if this is a genuine debt or a mistake on their part, and I don't have the full account details. I want to get this fixed one way or another, but obviously don't want to pay something I don't owe.

How do I go about contacting Virgin for proof of debt and resolving this issue?

Are there any specific steps I need to take or template letters that can help me get this sorted out?

Did you have an account with Virgin Media at all? You could try contacting them on their website https://www.virginmedia.com/help/billing-and-payments or call them on 0345 454 1111
  • Virgin media and many other companies if you owe them money from previous accounts . They will just change the addresses , start dates and defaulted dates to retrieve the monies owing . Firstly ask Virgin for the statement of accounts where the default has originated from ?
Review the statement and gather the information which you think is incorrect and contact VM customer services with proof that the account is falsified . Ask them to submit a formal complaint on your behalf if you’re still not happy contact Communication Ombudsman or OFCOM with your findings .
