I’m trying to do a balance transfer from American Express Amex, to avoid intrest I don’t know which credit cards would defiantly transfer from Amex, easiest to get and quickest to come this week as gona purchase a car.

Yes I’ve tried google, however it’s hit and miss some say some allowed others say same place does not allow.

Checked website eligibility doesn’t mention cards it allows

HSBC, Natwest and LBG* all do. Pretty sure Virgin Money did too.

Sainsbury's Bank definitely wouldn't accept them.

(*ISTR with LBG there's some issue where the application form won't accept 15 digit Amex card numbers, but you can just opt to transfer later and then the OLB/app transfer option works fine)

Thanks which ones easier to get because I already have some hard searches. So if I get declined less likely to get different one.

does balance transfer effect credit rating?

To the first question, there's no real answer to that. Use the tools on MSE and Compare the Market to get a rough idea idea of the cards which might be most willing to have you, then use the eligibility check tools on their own websites.

The answer to the second question is two fold. First of all, you don't have "a credit rating" and the indicative credit ratings you might see are never seen by any lender, so don't worry about them. Secondly, balance transfers in and of themselves are not reported on your credit report - what will be reported is that your existing card's balance will reduce, and your new card will appear with the transferred balance and a marker to show it has a promotional balance. Different lenders will take differing views of this, but it's definitely not definitively "a bad thing".
