I've had a new fixed rate offer from my supplier. Electricity has gone from 36.44 kwh to 25.54
gas from 7.18 to 5.81. Whilst I am delighted that at last it is going down, I'm curious as to why the standing charges have gone up. Gas 29.09 up to 31.10 and electric up a massive 28.59 to 55.71.

SC has been around 50p for ages. You were just unaware as you were on a fix. Think yourself lucky you aren't in the Northern region; it's 70p there.1

Electricty standing charges have more than doubled in last 2 years. The first major step in my region was nearly 90% - and coincided with the SoLR levy being added - but other changes to the cap have impacted it as the SoLR levy reduced. The recent Apr change averaged iirc just under 7p (-0.6 in one region to 14p in Northern - making it the most espensive iirc)0

Fixed rate - they can charge whatever they want.billiebean said:I've had a new fixed rate offer from my supplier.
Others have already pointed out that this is normal anyway.0 -
How come you were paying 36.44p, was that a multi year fix?billiebean said:I've had a new fixed rate offer from my supplier. Electricity has gone from 36.44 kwh to 25.540 -

At £1.33 per month, it is only a few pence on the daily standing charge.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
