How does someone get a copy of inheritance tax remittance for an estate (i.e. find out how much was paid) to HMRC in England and Wales? Don't have the IHT number, no probate has been applied for.
Does anybody know how far back records are retained?

Unlike probate IHT records are not in the public domain.
