Is Hastings / St Leonard's really up and coming?

I know there's lot's of posts about this, but they all seem to be dated in latest 2020 and as I can see from a recent visit to Hastings / St Leonard's , a lot seems to have changed then! However, i'm looking for the inside scoop from a local as I think you only really see tell tale signs if you live there. So, in 2024, how does Hastings fare as an 'up and coming' place to live? And have the school's improved?

I'd suggest asking on a local Facebook group.
This forum covers everything from the Orkney Islands to the Scilly Isles and everything in between!

Seaside towns are often touted as up and coming.
Some parts of Hastings are lovely but like all seaside towns it has social issues.
Margate has been up and coming for about 10 years. The sea front and high street are still in need of investment.0 -
Looking at actual data, it appears that house prices in St Leonards were increasing at more than inflation since about 2013/2014. Until the recent downturn. Whether the social situation has improved is another question, but there appears to have been strong house price growth until the downturn. If you compare this to the national average, then that might tell you one thing about the area.
I'm not saying that this is a definitive answer. Just saying that it's one possible symptom that can be looked at.

I know it's from a few years ago (2019) and not to be taken entirely seriously, but Mark Steel's in Town - Hastings is a good listen0
