Can I claim from MIB?

Options
Hit and run recently - the car went into the back of our stationary car - got reg driver drove off

My car insurance is due next few weeks

As claim registered with police and insurance. Comparing quotes, my new insurance is about 220 to 270 extra for the year if I add the claim to this

Can I claim from the MIB, please?

The mib will not pay for any losses that are already insured
you would need to claim for damage via your own policy if you have comprehensive cover.

MIB is to protect against uninsured losses

You would need to check your current policy to see if they have any uninsured driver promises

You want to claim for the increased premium due to you now having a claim on your policy?

    Nope, that won't happen.

And "if I add the claim to this"?  You have to add the claim at renewal otherwise it's fraud.

No, you have insurance in place

    MIB - Men in Black?
Motor Insurance Bureau, tend to wear more navy than black.

They maintain the MID which lists which policy every vehicle in the UK is insured under, liaise with their equivalents in other countries when a foreign vehicle has an accident here or a UK vehicle has an accident overseas and they also deal with claims against Untraced and Uninsured so that the uninsured innocent party doesn't lose out due to the wrong actions of the at fault party.

    Thanks all

FYI, I know and almost every adult is aware if you make a false claim its "fraud." Not
sure why you had to post that as I clearly asked a question
re the potential increase in my insurance of over 200-pound min - "Would I be able to claim for that."

Not sure what gave you the impression I was going to make a claim and even if I did, I would have made clear what it was for and what my insurance had done

I was almost certain I could not claim but I wanted to ask, that is what it was.

Many know and yet still do it.

Some of them come here to ask whether and how they can get away with it.

To be clear I did not and my post was clear, IE it was a question
If I was going to do that, why would I ask?
