I have my Edge account with the £3 I initially put in "just in case", but no fee has ever been charged. I do occasionally get reminder emails I'm not taking advantage of the perks of the current account. So not sure downgrading is necessaryBigBlueSky said:
I assume this will also avoid the £3 monthly fee if you are only using the Edge current account for the purpose of the Edge saver, and no longer fulfilling the requirements for the monthly fee ?overspender22 said:Can confirm I was able to ‘downgrade’ my edge to an everyday current account. Transferred money from edge saver to everyday account. I then went on live chat and and requested to close the edge saver (the bot/AI thing took the instruction which was impressive) and a day or so later it disappeared from the app. I then reopened a new edge account and edge saver. All worked fine.0 -
Downgrading the Edge current account and opening a new one isn't necessary unless you're paying the £3 monthly fee and no longer want to pay it.nic_c said:I have my Edge account with the £3 I initially put in "just in case", but no fee has ever been charged. Otherwise you just close the Edge Saver via chat, wait for it to disappear and then open a new one.3 -

You say you opened an account (I assume an Edge or Edge Up current account for the switch offer as you mention the £1,500) and that Santander state that you can use your debit card and PIN which will be arriving shortly. If they are requiring proof of ID it sounds like the account hasn't been opened yet until they receive this proof.luverlyjuberly said:I opened one of these accounts last night to start today. Checking my emails I was annoyed to note that they want me to print out a form and fill it in and also to send them proof of ID (Passport details or Drivers Licence, etc. I don't have any of these. Rather ridiculously they state that I can use a letter off the HMRC instead (which again I don't have).Santander also state that I can use my Santander card and PIN (which will be arriving shortly) but can't do online banking. Will I still be able to transfer the required £1,500 into the account using another online bank account ? Does anyone know?If so I can get a new Drivers Licence form from the post office and send the ID at a later date.
Have Santander confirmed that the account is open and sent you your account number?Hello, yes I've been sent an account number. This was included in the email I received from Santander."To use Online or Mobile Banking for your new account you need to return the change of details form and the appropriate ID. Sounds like you're an existing Santander customer but the information you provided in your Edge account application doesn't match what they have on their records for you.luverlyjuberly said:Hello, yes I've been sent an account number. This was included in the email I received from Santander."To use Online or Mobile Banking for your new account you need to return the change of details form and the appropriate ID. Are any of your details different, e.g. different address?
Are you able to log into the app or online banking? If so, does the new account appear there?0 -
I must admit I'm a little puzzled by them stating that I am an existing customer. I had a mortgage with them which I paid off in 2015. I'm certainly not an existing customer. I banked with them but closed the account more than ten years ago.I'm going to leave it for now and decide what to do when I receive my bank card and PIN number. If I can I'll add any money to the account at my local post office and skip the online banking until I receive a Driver Licence (which I will apply for as it sounds like I need it for identification purposes).I plan to apply/switch two more bank account that I have.Having ID will make the process a lot easier it seems. From September 2008 - Wepromiseto £133.19, Greasypalm £46.16, Quidco £519.78, Cashback Kings £74.54. In terms of specifically paying the £3 fee and no longer wanting to, is it a case of downgrading the Edge current account and then upgrading it back again, or is it better to downgrade and open a new edge current account with a new account number ?danny13579 said:

I would open a new Edge account. You can get some extra cash if you do it through Top Cashback (£20) or Quidco (£15 to £22 - the amount varies after you log in!).BigBlueSky said:In terms of specifically paying the £3 fee and no longer wanting to, is it a case of downgrading the Edge current account and then upgrading it back again, or is it better to downgrade and open a new edge current account with a new account number ?1
