Barclaycard Rewards

It never used to but they stopped that service months ago and the cash back!
The Halifax one is still ok.
So please change your recommendations or people will get caught out with a 2.99% charge and their transactions!

I've just spent 2 weeks in the Canary Islands, paying for everything (in euros) on my Barclaycard Rewards card and have never been charged a cent....even on cash withdrawals. I'm also receiving .25% cashback. I think you might need to check with Barclaycard regarding the charges - they weren't ones imposed by the ATM when withdrawing cash, were they?#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

RogerWhere are you getting your information that there are charges?Mine doesn't - and the website shows that the product doesn't.
Do you have one? Or is it something you've read?0 -
Hello All
I have Barclaycard Platinum and had it for years.
I had notification that they were going to charge on non £ transactions and I have paid for some accomation in France in Euros and have been charged?
I have the present card since 06/22I am not sure when the change happened to me but my credit limit is just the same
I used it in Potugal last month to test it and was charged?
So unless they are picking on me for some reason but I always pay it off each month and have done so for probably the last 10years plus or hower long I have had this type and been a Barclays customer for 50years

Barclaycard Rewards Card and Barclaycard Platinum Card have different benefits. Your thread title refers to the 'Rewards card' which is purple in colour. If you have the Platinum card, and want the benefits of the Reward card, you'll need to change your card. It's easy to do - in the app you'll find an option to swap your card - it's under the card itself 'Change to a different card' - and it'll show you the options open to you. If you already have Platinum - I'd imagine you'd get Rewards without an issue.Your credit limit and APR wouldn't change - but your benefits would. You'd get the things you've complained about with the new card.1 -
"So please change your recommendations or people will get caught out with a 2.99% charge and their transactions!"As advised above the Barclaycard Reward is a different card from other Barclaycard offerings - and remains a top choice for travel.Card holders (of all cards) also need to remember that an ATM may charge for currency withdrawals even if you use a fee free card.1

Hello cymruchris
I have the platinum card and Rewards is a different thing altogether! that is cash back from spending in certain shops etc!!
I was talking about being charged 2.99% on any non Sterling transactions which never used to happen?
I think bank's are not your friends they just want your money!!!

Well if the card you have doesn't give you the benefits you want - then as I've already mentioned - product swap to the 'Rewards card' which will give you those benefits, and will cost you nothing to swap.

My memory is a bit hazy - but was the Rewards card not introduced a few years ago to replace the Platinum card in terms of the fee free transactions abroad ?It was clearly advertised as such.MSE are recommending the correct Barclaycard for travellers.0

You are correct, Barclays launched a Platinum Card with zero overseas fees until a fixed date (basically a promotion). I assume that promotion has now finished. I swapped to a Rewards Card (from the Platinum) using the app a couple of years back to continue reap the benefit of zero overseas fee.1 -
Thanks, I'm obviously not as senile as I assumed !!!
