BARCLAYCARD ALERT!! Transactions Duplicated?

I've just spoked to barclaycard about a problem and they've told me that any card accounts which have been cancelled between december 21st and december 25th have been screwed up and have had transactions counted twice.

Nutshell:

I had a balance of £1150 and noticed a fraudulent transaction of £50, taking the balance to just over £1200. I informed them of this and they cancelled my account immediately.

I called later and they said my balance was at £2,414 (the limit is £2,400). I was shocked but assumed that the extra £1,200 was made up of more fraudulent transactions that had happened just before I cancelled it.

It turns out that's not the case. In cancelling the old card and initiating a new one, they've duplicated all of the £1,200 worth of transactions. They all appear perfectly dulicated on my on-line statement.

They acknowledge the mistake and are working to fix it, but say a lot of cards have been affected.

Hope this saves someone from a nasty new years shock when they get their statements through!

I saw this post when it first came up and was horrified when it happened to me.....did a big BT before the problem was mentioned and it went through twice, putting me over my credit limit.

This was problem was addressed but I now get my statement which says that I've gone over my limit and lost my promotional rate and interest will be charged at the normal silly rate......and I got an over-limit fee!

I eventually managed to explain what had happened and
think I've got it sorted now but will have to wait and see what my February statement says...didn't get any kind of apology...
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007
