depends on your local repair shops willingness to find look for the part for you, also availability of the parts, age of the unit, financial viability.....0

depends on where the hinge is broken too.
rarely does the hinge itself break,
more likely the screen or body connection to the hinge.
superglue sometimes works.
i doubt its worth spending money on a pro repair. just use it as is.
try HP direct for spares. or even ebay?Get some gorm.0 -
Ebay is always a good bet as there are loads of laptop breakers on there.
If you do end up replacing it, sell your old one 'spares or repair', you'd be surprised what it could make0 -
The laptop I've just got via freecycle has the same problem.
It's about 8 years old so I'm not going to bother. It will be used as a compact desktop by my tenant. The battery is also knackered but I see no sense in replacing it.
It still functions as a computer so hopefully I may be able to get some memory for it from somewhere then install win 2k as opposed to 98, then pass it onto my tenant.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0
