It really is as simple as the subject. On the 24th June, 2024, looking for a long term ISA planning, £20k to invest, 10 on the risk scale (using the general terms of most self investing platforms that I'm still relatively young, working on a 20 year plan, have emergency savings and funds and can ride out multi-year storms), what would you put your £20k into, intending to leave it there at least 5 years, maybe 20?

I really just hoped that a few people to use our common tongue to say 'this one' with a link and why, showing a really really popular fund, available across platforms and something which isn't at the peak of any particular bubble. Trying to be amusing seems to scare most people. Just because it's a boring subject, doesn't mean posts have to be boring.

Just throw a bone and I won't complain if, in 5 years, it tastes bad.

Never asked for advice on buying individual stocks. Never asked for advice about doing 1 payment a year or 12.

    thanks

I think the "trying to be amusing" side-tracked the discussion around your actual question.

But I also think you'll have a challenge in finding a
"really popular fund" which "isn't at the peak" in today's market, since most of those are already near or at their all time high. And no-one here can tell you if that is their peak.

And a 10 on the risk scale is unlikely to be a really popular fund.

The problem is that even if you want some crazy ideas for a bit of fun and take full responsibility for your actions, others reading the thread may take recommendations out of context, go all in on something they shouldn't, and blame MSE for the bad investment "advice". We had an instance earlier this week of a novice investor reporting a £10k/50% loss after following a tip in a thread posted last year. Which is why many of us are reluctant to engage with discussion on speculative punts.

Threads like this is why the phrase DYOR (Do Your Own Research) was invented.
